Resistant means exactly that... you can use the phone in the rain and not worry about the water or dust ruining the phone. Or even drop it in a glass of water. sink or whatever but it is not PROOF. Meaning it will only survive being underwater for 30 minutes at 3 ft depth
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The phone is rated to be water and dust resistant. I forget the standard that rates it, but it has the highest dustproof rating and the second highest water resistant rating. If the back cover is sealed and the charging port is closed, the phone can be submersed in water for up to 30 minutes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's IP67 certified. Independently tested to 1 meter of water for 30 min. The differences you will see is the backplate has a gasket around the electronic connections. Also, the charging connection is covered. Personally, I've run the phone under water with no issues. I haven't gone swimming with it yet, but some people have seen durability even through a laundry wash cycle. It's amazingly durable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sealed enough for a splash! Dropped mine into a pitcher of water to test ;-) No issues! http://www.androidauthority.com/ip-rating-system-explained-221948/
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This device is IP67 certified. According to an internet search, this certification means that the unit is dust tight (no ingress of dust), and protected against immersion in water up to three feet. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It means the device resists the penetration of water and dust. For example, if the back cover is in place properly, and it's dropped in the toilet, you're probably okay. Just don't take the phone with you while you're snorkeling. Same applies to dust, it's resistant to every day dust but don't bury it in the dirt and dig it back up next week.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The phone is just very sealed down, as in the USB charging covers fit snuggly, etc. There are YouTube videos of the phone being submerged in a glass of water for several minutes and coming out fine. This is part of the water resistant and dust proof design and marketing of the phone. It is a selling point, and being an S5 owner, in this area, the phone has done very well! Although I have not submerged it anywhere, yet. Many people, including myself, have had to have this phone replaced over and over, though. They have problems that are not reported with the S4 or S3, or different comparable models from other brands, such as the HTC M8 or the DROID MAXX.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if everything is closed tightly, the phone will withstand being submerged in water for about 30 minutes. after as dust resistant means, im not sure. there is a plastic cover that comes on the phone thats clean that im sure you could use to protect it, but im sure they mean the screen is dust resistant like glasses are dust/scratch resistant. it works to a put but i would definitely suggest a screen cover for it. (the otterbox defender case has a plastic screen cover built into the case)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Basically means its Water Proof and Dust Proof (*TO AN EXTENT*). If you were to spill a cup of water on the phone but shortly after picked it up and dried it off, it should be just fine with no damage. I believe its Water Resistent up to like 4 meters or something like that so if I'm not mistaking, if you were to drop it in a bucket of water, toilet, maybe even a somewhat shallow pool but again were to dry it off shortly after, it would be fine. Now if you were to go and toss it in the Ocean and then magically managed to get it from the bottom, chances are it would be ruined. Haha
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you drop your phone in a puddle it will be good but not if in the pool. dust means that the charger area has a cover to keep it clean inside
