I had a Otterbox defender case on my S6 Edge. What I had to do was lay the phone down a couple of different times until I could find the spot where it seemed to be able to charge. Not sure if it will help you with your phone but it worked for me.

I have the Galaxy 8 and I put an Otterbox on it. I discovered that I had to hit the sweet spot, which is smack dab in the middle of back of the phone. If I dont hit it, the phone will not charge.
