Can you trade a phone in for a new one? null

Yes you can, but you won't get much for it, if anything. I did the phone trade in online for my Galaxy S7, answered all the question and it gave me a trade in value of $75. But when I brought it into the BB store, they examined the phone and because the phone's screen had "burn in" (after images burned in the screen) it was not accepted.

Samsung offers a rebate for some models

I did get a credit towards my new phone by trading in my old one. You should check with a sales rep.
