“Can I buy this then switch to a prepaid plan without doing the contract? I am looking into this phone and I am wondering if I buy this will I be able to do the prepaid plans with it? It says, "with a two year contract" I'm wondering is that optional?”

It will be in instalments, which adds about $30 to the plan. But you will not be bound to the provider, and can cancel anytime as long as the phone is paid.
