As far as I am understanding as long as you are not on the 20 month lease you will own the phone, but I'm sure they want you to upgrade before that...so you'd have to pay off the 24 month contract to move to the next phone...where the lease yo u have to give it back to them...

Yes. If it says Installment payments, it is yours at the end of the period. If it says lease payments or something along those lines, no.
