Having 5g means it supports upto 5g Meaning that you can use 4g and 3g with it
You don't have to have 5G service. I don't have it where I live (yet) and this phone still works great.
The Verizon 5G SIM card is pre-installed and works on CDMA, 3G, 4G, and LTE networks. I have not tested it, but it should work on GSM networks as well.
This phone will work with your current 4G and you can switch to 5G when it comes available, if you wish.
Works without 5G. I will upgrade when 5G comes to my area.
