“What does "unlocked" mean in a cell phone description?”

• Unlock means the can be activated through any carrier and that the phone isn't tied to just one specific carrier you can use it for any carrier you desire programming can cost money but usually is free with activation

• The phone is not assigned to a carrier. It can be used with any provider. With that said some features may not be available from certain carriers because the phone was not provided by them so it will not be pre-loaded with said feature. Most of my phones are unlocked and i prefer it that way.
