If you purchased the unlocked model, you can use any carrier and not be bound by that carrier. While using that carriers sim there may be some options and settings not available to you until you remove that carrier sim, but other then that you're good. Since the s22 has the option to add eSim you could always have your USA carrier physical sim in the phone and find a international carrier that offers eSim for abroad like Airalo, then when you land just make that your primary # but still have access to your US carrier if needed.
