The previous answer is misleading saying you do not get either option. If you purchase it outright, you ARE eligible for the VR and Oculus from Samsung. Not sure about the extra $100 though. I think that's based on doing an installment plan only.

If you choose to buy the phone out right you do not get either option. The preorder uses your upgrade as a 24 month installment billing. The discount and promotion are dependent on completing the activation.

If you buy through best buy you can get the $100.00 off to get the vr you'd have to pre-order but the day of pick up you can choose to jus buy the phone instead of choosing to make payments for 24months
