This is my understanding from the research that I've done concerning unlocked s9 phone and different carriers: T-Mobile is one of the few carriers out there that still configure their phones to work only on their network and its not an easy task to get them to unlock it when you want to switch carriers. Some make you stay on their network for six months before switching. But I do believe you can put your old sim card in your new unlocked phone. If i were you, i would only buy unlocked. We should have the freedom to choose to switch carriers when we want. Best buy has the best deals around. They will beat anybody's price bc they have a price match guarantee.
