Yes, you can turn it off. But you probably won't have to, because this feature breaks after 3 or 4 washes. Many people are having the same problem, and Samsung seems unable to fix it.

Yes there is an override function that will drain the water before it even starts. Shouldn't be a problem for you if that were to happen. Hope this helps.
