• Thank you for your question! HDMI is unable to support 165hz. The maximum refresh rate for HDMI is 144hz, DP 165hz.

• It reads my HDMI as 2.0 and it still doesn’t output 165. Only 144.

• Being HDMI 2.0 it can handle 144hz at 1440p. Turn on either freesync or whatever nVidia version is. This will keep the GPU and monitor at the same refresh rate.
