Although you will need a 3D TV in order to view 3D Blu-Ray content or any other type of 3D content, the BD-C6900 can act as a standard 2D Blu-Ray player as well. Again, the BD-C6900 will be able to play both 2D movies as well as 3D movies, but in order to view 3D content, you must have the BD-C6900 connected to a 3D TV. -MrSamsung
