“Can anyone confirm or deny the reports of this external drive overheating?”

• It gets warm but not hot. Haven't seen any evidence of overheating. DriveDx would have alerted me if it did.

• No heating issues for me at all. I use if for live music, and so far no issues.

• I've had no issues with this device having heat issues. Again this is an SDD drive which dissipate little to no power
