This SSD does work on MacOS devices, just make sure you format the drive properly before use. As far as storing songs, you should be able to store roughly a million 3-4 minute long MP3s if that's all you used the drive for. If you were storing flac audio files (which are about 5x bigger) you could expect to store about 200,000 songs max. The drive isn't exactly 1000GB; you lose up to a few GB depending on how you format.
