Check what file system your other drives are formatted as (since your media player recognizes them) and then try formatting this SSD with the same file system.

Your media player may be looking for a FAT formatted drive.  I believe this comes formatted extended.  Check the specs.

Mine was plug and play. No issues. You may need to go into your device manager and look for it to run a diag. I had similar problems in the past with a hard drive I installed on a computer.
