• it will NOT let you transfer files with an unpowered device. for example if you use an transfer cable (with this adaptor) to connect a flash drive to a phone or tablet, power will not be provided to the flash drive rendering it useless.

• Yes it does. It's just an extension of your normal USB cord. I had to get one to convert my micro USB to a Type C.
