“I want to download music from my desktop computer on to a USB stick and then be able to plug the USB stick into a separate device to listen to the downloaded songs using an earphone. Is the SanDisk 8GB MP3 Player the right device for this task? Thanks.”

No. You can't plug a USB stick into this device. You can download your songs onto this directly from your computer with the cord that comes with it (has a USB end to plug into the computer) and then listen to them through the earphones.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had music that were on cds that I burned. I dragged the file onto this player and was able to play the music directly from it. This player comes with a usb connector so you will be able to connect it to your computer to download them to it. Hope that helps
