A full charge will last a long time. As with anything, the better care you take care of the device, the longer it will last. We've had multiple San Disk MP3 players over the years. They are well-made and will last quite a long time if you take good care of them. We are know buying and loading them for our grandchildren. They LOVE them!

If you transfer files from your computer, that amount of time should charge it enough to last until the next file transfer (assuming you add new music once every few weeks).
