I'm having the same problem. I've plugged it into every usb port on my computer and it does nothing. I used the cord that came with it and also other cords. I'm ready to throw this thing out the window. It's useless so far and I've found 0 helpful answers.

I used windows 10 with no issues. Plug and play. However I did not like the USB cable that came with it. Try a different one so your PC detects your device.

You can use windows media player or download the sansa transfer system from their website. If you were asking if XP is required, no you can use most windows operating systems with this player.
