If the tracks are numbered in the right order, it should play them in that order if the shuffle is turned off. If necessary, you could number them yourself, within a folder.

I find the random play mode best.  That mixes 50s oldies up to recent rock with classical, folk music and orchestral music and keeps me constantly trying to remember titles and performers while I'm listening.

If I listened alphabetically I would always know the first couple of letters in the titles.
