Will this fix a Digital Rebel XT null

The xt rebel came out around 2005. I believe that the xt can format the cf card only up to 8gb. Some people they have formated 16gb cards on thier computer and have had success, Using larger cf data cards like 16gb or higher may cause transfer of data to the card to be slower.
