It could. Most TV will just require you to format the drive a certain way and only allow for certain drive sizes. So it is really dependent on your TV. But I would not recommend a drive such as this for the task. As I do now know of any TV that can take advantage of USB 3.1 Gen 2 speeds. Just read your TV manual for formatting, size limitations, and theoretical speed caps.

If your TV is fairly new and supports ex-fat, you can format this drive to ex-fat and it can store most of your media including High Definition videos. if your TV is fairly old and/or does not support ex-fat, you will have to format to fat32 which will only allow files that are 4GB or less.
