The only difference is the Nm size of the internal wiring. SanDisk has several different levels of SSD's and then you get into which model years. Some of their drives are also made with 50% inhouse components and some are all outsourced. You did not specify in your question which models you were comparing but to answer your question, the different models have to do with internal architecture in regards to Nm.

Whatever changes are made are designed to improve performance and/or reliability. To delve into the specifics of the changes is to get lost in the weeds. Just make sure you backup everything and register your warranty.
