I can put about 700 photos of the highest resolution tiffs at 273 MBs each and leave about 30 gigs or so empty on the drive for editing, not nearly as much as a multiple TB external hard drive. So I put all my photos on the external hard drive and then copy only the very best photos onto the flash drive. Of course you could put a whole lot more photos on if you have lower resolution photos or use jpegs.
