• Yes it does work but if you have 2.0 female port is goint to work at 2.0 speed you should have a 3.0 female port to see the results

• Yes, I use it on both my Mac and Windows machines. It comes down to if you reformat it with a specific filesystem format e.g. NTFS then mac would only be able to read from it and not write without specially installed software.

• Format the drive for Mac & you are good to go. I did and back up via time machine.
