The answer to your question is yes. These drives come out of the box pre-formatted and fat 32. If you choose you can reformat the drive to fat however I would not recommend this. If it helps when you stick this drive into a Windows computer for the first time it will recognize 233 GB worth of storage. That is plenty. No need to reformat but if you need more memory just buy another drive. T
