I don't have an iPad. However, I only use ScanDisk with my MacBook Pro to save downloaded apps, and I NB use them mostly for photos and videos. I use the drive right out of the box and don't need the Apple app. I have had other USB and external hard drives fail, but not ScanDisks.

I used it to download several hundred jpeg files off a windows machine and several days later copied those same files to an identical drive (using an Android) and all the files on both drives came up without issue. Actually, about 60 of them were edited, saved back to the drive as new files and then printed. All came out perfectly. Should integrate with the iPad.
