If you have an older desktop that accepts cards you can just buy a pcie-usb 3.0 card. That will allow you to use usb 3.0 on older computers. You must have an extra pcie slot available for the card to be installed on your computer board.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't had a problem with this. I can plug 3.0's and 2.0's with no issues. SanDisk is a solid product. Very satisfied over the years buying them. Remember, a 2.0 USB port delivers at a slower rate than a 3.0 USB port. That's it. Buy away. Consultant Brian
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sorry to say, but that is correct. The 3.x Flash Drives are "Backward" Compatible with older USB-v2. The v3x Dives will work on the v2 USB Ports, but those v2x Ports will only Clock the Data at 480 Mbits per second (~50 MBytes) as the v2x only has 4 Wires and works in Half Duplex mode. A newer v3x USB port has 9 wires, and can communicate in Full Duplex mode at approximately 5 Gbits per second. This also means that an older v2x Flash-Drive will only have 4 wires, and will communicate at Half-Duplex when connected to a v3x USB port, hence will still Xfer data at 480 Mbits.
