I believe they are supposed to get hot; after all, metals are very good heat conductors. Mine gets pretty hot when I transfer a lot of data to and from it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most of the thumb drives that I have get really hot when I am moving huge amounts of data on or off it. Whether or not it is supposed to get hot or how hot is hot, you would have to measure it and compare it against the specification for the thumb drive. Another suggestion would be to take breaks in between moving huge chunks of data.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine is “extremely” hot when in use as well so I don’t think it is a defect. I put quotes around extremely because it becomes heated but I wouldn’t say scolding hot to the point that it hurts to touch it, maybe because you are using it in a car. Not sure what the reason might be, but as long as all my documents are safely stored I don’t mind.
