Chris: The cost is ridiculously cheap for this much memory. I picked up a 4TB for just $119.00...and that wasn't even on sale! Watch the sales and you could shave twenty bucks off that. As for having someone replace the drive for you, it's just plug-and-play. You just plug it into the USB port and away you go!

If you only plan to use it with a Mac, just use Disk Utility to format it "MacOS - Journaled." But if you want to use it with both your Mac and PC, format it "ExFat." that way not only will it work on both machines, you'll be able to save really large (Over 2 GB ) files on it.
