• Yes you should. Turn it on you need to open the cover and hit the on switch. When it comes on, your monitor(s) should be on and you'll get a blink when you close the cover and then the monitor(s) should work.

• Yes, you can with a windows laptop, go to your power settings and search for choose what my laptop does when I close the lid. Set that to nothing.
