I had an issue with a Seagate drive crashing before and they offer a service that can try to recover the data but it is not free. If the drive fails or crashes you would be able to make a claim and get it replaced but data recovery and virus protection are not part of the deal. You are on your own with that. Make sure that you have multiple back-ups for everything.
