It should work fine. It had no problem with mine. I have 1 SSD boot drive and a 2TB HD.

Yes it works for my HP Desktop in a 4TB USB drive and also my HP Envy laptop in a 2 TB backup. I have a one TB hard drive on it.

I have the HP Envy too, however I purchased this external hard drive to back up my desk top because I was having some problems with it. I am not a real techi person and actually purchased the Seagate per recommendation from a friend. It seems to be working fine for what I need. I will also use it with my HP Envy, just haven't yet.
