It depends on how close the shelving towers are to the AMBEO as the side firing speakers are slightly angled forward in order to bounce towards the listener (about 20-25 degrees off of typical 90 degree corner). If the side firing speakers don't clear the shelves the side surround sound is effectively nullified. It is recommended to have at least 3 feet/1 meter of clearance to each side for surround effect at the optimal listening position.
