The chair tilts back and you can adjust the tension on the tilt. It does not stay reclined like a recliner would, but comes back up when you sit up. Also you can lock it in upright position. It swivels smoothly. This is bonded leather and will start to peel in a couple years and be ready to join all the rest in a landfill shortly after.
