Too many "bells and whistles" for me to figure out! How do I just play CDs? Cannot figure t out and the instructions are not helpful! null

Just tried what you suggested and get different messages and a whirring sound but it does not play.  Can I return this piece of JUNK to a local store?

There are a lot of things that the unit does. You have to learn the remote. The instructions can be vague

Hello, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. To play a CD, first turn the unit on then press the FUNCTION button on the main unit to select the 'CD' function. When this is done, you may look specifically on the top of page E-12 of the manual for the sections that is titled 'disc playback' and follow instructions 3 to 7.
