• Hello, we will be more than happy to advise. All displays (not limited to Sharp) are actually measured diagonally. This is larger than the exact width measured from side to side.

• TV's are measured diagonally not by width.

• The 50 inches comes from the diagonal screen measurements. This is how all televisions are measured for advertisement.
