• The two are not mutually exclusive. LED refers to the backlighting technology in use. Traditional LCD displays use fluorescent lamps to provide backlighting. LED sets use an array of LEDs for this purpose. The result is more even lighting, among other benefits. This TV uses LEDs to provide backlighting, but it is still an LCD, just like every other LED set.
