“The picture looks very washed out from any angle except directly in front of the TV. I have played with all of the settings and cannot improve it. Has anyone else noticed this or did I get a bad TV? Most reviews touted the great picture.”

You got a bad one most likely. We have the 50" and 32" and they both look great.

Mine is like that too I think the viewing angle is not the best, but it is not a problem for me as I watch pretty much straight on.
