• Light is only comes on while cooking not when door is open to load/unload

• The interior light should be on while operating and also when the door is opened to make a check. If your not getting both then you have issues with the unit.

• Yes, most microwaves function in that way. The light is to indicate that the microwave is running(though the loud sound is enough). My model does the same.
