QuestionMy Sharp carosel model R-405 KS, 1100 watt microwave finally died. We bought it new in 2006. What is a comparable Sharp microwave model today?

- Answer Hello, we are very sorry to hear that your previous microwave oven died and we are happy to provide a replacement model. The models that are comparable are SMC1452CH, the dimensions are 20.4 " W x 12.4" H x 18.1" D, the wattage is 1100 and the capacity is 1.4. The SMC1662DS is also a comparable model. The dimensions are 21.8" W x 12.8" H x 17.7" D, the wattage is 1100 and the capacity is 1.6. QuestionDoes the signal keep signaling after it has signaled once?

- Answer Hello Denise, when the oven reaches the programmed temperature, a signal will sound 4 times then the oven will stop and directions will be displayed. If the oven door is not opened, the oven will automatically hold at the preheat temperature for 30 minutes. After this time has elapsed, an audible signal will sound and the oven will turn off.

- Answer Hello, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused. The unit can be replaced with the convection model SMC1585BS as this is the only countertop convection model that we are manufacturing. Please note, this model SMC1585BS was not built for an RV. If it is to be installed in an RV we suggest that you follow the relevant installation requirements that are in the installation manual when using a trim kit and if it is to be placed on a countertop, it requires 4 inches clearance all around.

QuestionI want to replace my 13 yr old Viking VMOC506SS witha Sharp SMC1585BSS. From what I read, the dims are nearly identical as is the "look" of the keypad. Will my Viking 30" trim kit with the duct work for the convection fit on the new Sharp? Thanks, Jack

- Answer Yes, the Viking "IS" a re-badged Sharp microwave. In other words, Viking is built by Sharp with minor changes to the door face and name. It will fit exactly the same.

- Answer Hello, Trim Kits are designed for each unit specifically so there is no guarantee that you will be able to use a new unit with your existing trim kit. We recommend using the trim kit that was designed specifically for each unit.
