• My Sharp Microwave Oven, Model SMC224208, 2.2 cu. ft is kept on my kitchen counter-top, not in a cabinet. I was surprised that the bulge in the back of the microwave was as large as it was, taking up 5 1/4" of space from the back wall of the counter to the start of the back of the microwave cabinet itself, with the plug placed into the protruding electrical surge-protector. As a result, the microwave only JUST fits on the 23 1/4" deep counter, and with only 1/2 inch to spare if front of the microwave door.
