Not your regular gym headphones but something sturdy and noise cancelling though you don't have to go all out. Set yourself up with a recording program if you want to go beyond a basic computer voice recorder's ability to capture a .wav file. Especially if you want layers (voice & music). You'll be able to see your sound waves via the program being captured if you're doing it correctly. If you like what you hear render the two together as an .mp3 and if not delete your voice recording and start over. YouTube may have several simple tutorials on setting this thing up.
