On the Solo 3, what is the 3.5mm Remote Talk cable for? Do you have to be plugged in with that to answer calls? null

The cable is for in case the unit runs out if battery then you just plug them in and they are ready for use. I have had to use them in order to answer or make calls.

Yes. This would be good for older iphones with headphone jacks or Android devices. When you plug them in, you would use the remote talk cable to answer calls.

No its for when your wireless charge is dead and connect to your phone as wired headphones

The cable is for non wireless applications ( DJ’s that have a 3.5mm output from their mixer, etc) you do not need it to use the headphones unless you chose to use them.
