• Yes. You would have to do your own boring and drilling through the ceramic to expose the studs. you'd also have to do that carefully to ensure you don't crack the ceramic. Once the mounting screws are drilled into the studs it will hold securely.

• Yes, it will add stability to any mounting situation for the playbar. The only reason you wouldn't need it is if you get 2 good screws in concrete or wood. Other than that it's needed and should probably just be sold with the unit.
