“Does the speaker need to be physically plugged in while in use or does it have a rechargeable battery on board?”

This question is for: Sonos - One (Gen 2) Smart Speaker with Voice Control built-in - Black

This device does require to be plugged into a power outlet as it does not have any type of onboard battery. The cord is pretty lengthy, about 10' which is pretty nice.

No battery all Sonos products are plug and play

the speaker will need to be physically plugged in. It is not battery operated
