It can interface with just about anything... especially a digital signal. You simply choose that as your music/sound source.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. On my SONOS phone app, if I select "on this iPhone" I can play all the songs stored on the phone. There is a podcast option that does play all my content from the generic podcast app. I'm not sure about downcast. I like WTF with Mark Maron.

When you sign into your Sonos account through the Sonos App (download through iTunes) it will play any music you have store on "your device." now, if you decide to use another device to play music from another device such as a laptop or an iPad, it will be able to play whatever music is downloaded to that particular device but not from another device. If you have the same music downloaded to all devices then you're fine. IMPORTANT-Any music played over Sonos speakers is controlled through their App, so you lose some of the functionality of the actual ITunes App but yes, you can listen to podcasts. Also interesting from what I've read is that in 2017 Sonos speakers will be able to integrate with Amazon Echo. Yet another level of functionality available.
