“Are they mono or do u need 2 for true stereo thanks”

• Use two for the best in stereo sound. However one sounds very good, it just greatly improves when you create a right and left for true stereo sound. This is easy to do with their simple instructions. Just label them on the bottom so you can keep them straight if you move them to another room.

• Each speaker can be used as a standalone or can be paired with another play 1 to create a stereo pair.

• They deliver stereo singularly, but separation is not wide simply because it's one unit.

• You can not pair 2 (or more) speakers up for stereo.... as in R & L for listening to music. However paired with sound bar for TV, Play:1s can be used for surround sound
