• you'll need the Sonos app, unless you have an Amazon echo speaker/dot. If you add Sonos to you echo, you could control your sonos via voice through the echo - that's what we do.

• No you need to download the app. Then you can access from various locations provided your on the WiFi that the speaker is set up with.
